The Ethics of Healthcare AI by the Australian Institute for Machine Learning is to support a full-time PhD student who is interested in pursuing research on the responsible and ethical evaluation of machine learning or artificial intelligence systems in healthcare settings. Dr. Melissa McCradden is leading a project looking to develop international best practice standards for the ethical testing and integration of AI tools in healthcare settings. The project has a strong multidisciplinary focus, spanning expertise from computer science to bioethics to human factors and more. The team is looking for an ethically-minded, motivated candidate who is interested in health research evaluation of new technologies and would be excited to work with a multidisciplinary team from around the world. Candidates from equity-deserving groups are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia/international students who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD/MPhil degree at the University of Adelaide.
Stipend:
The scholarship will be for 3.5 years and has a stipend of $34,210 (indexed annually) per annum, along with a supplementary scholarship of $10,000 per annum in value.
It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval. Details of any terms and/or benefits can be found in the Conditions of Award/Rules.
