The Joseph Miller Travel Scholarships in Engineering have been established by a bequest from the late Joseph Miller to support one undergraduate student in the field of Engineering at the University of Adelaide for the purpose of studying abroad for semester 2, 2021.

One scholarship is available to a student undertaking the second or third year of a Bachelor of Engineering program of study at the University of Adelaide. This scholarship will go towards travel and living costs for overseas study which contributes to the award of the student's second or third year of study.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens or permanent residents of Australia undertaking study as a Commonwealth supported student and must remain enrolled on a full time basis in the program for which the Scholarship was approved.

Students must have already completed 24 units and have at least 12 units remaining in their Bachelor of Engineering program upon their return from travel. The coursework component of the overseas study must be pre-approved by the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences prior to an application for enrolment being made, and applicants must submit evidence of approval to study from the overseas Host Organisation as part of the application process.

Selection of the successful candidates will be made according to financial need and academic merit. Academic merit will be determined according to student's cumulative Grade Point Average or equivalent scores.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.

The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered; acceptance of the Scholarship offer cannot be deferred. If a student declines the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship will be offered to the next eligible student.
