The Don Alexander Scholarship in Water Engineering has been established as a result of a generous donation received from Don Alexander's daughters to support students who are undertaking a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Environmental) program of study at the University of Adelaide.

One scholarship shall be awarded annually to students undertaking the second or third year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)(Environmental) (including combined and double degrees) at the University of Adelaide. The scholarship will provide financial assistance to students to assist in meeting educational and living costs for one year.

Applicants must be Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, permanent residents of Australia or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa undertaking study as a Commonwealth supported student and must remain enrolled on a full time basis in the approved program for which the Scholarship was approved.

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to satisfactory academic progress, financial need and their response to how water resources should be managed in the future.

Academic merit for continuing students will be determined according to the students' cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) or equivalents scores.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.

The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which they are offered: acceptance of the Scholarship cannot be be deferred. If a student declines the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship will be offered to the next eligible student.

Students in receipt of other University of Adelaide Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship.
