The Edward Rychter Scholarship in English has been established by Mrs G M Rychter in memory of her husband and his lifelong appreciation of language and literature. The Scholarship will support one undergraduate student who is undertaking an English program of study at the University of Adelaide.
The scholarship is open to students in their third or fourth year of the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) program and must be majoring in English.
Applicants must be undertaking study on a full time basis as a Commonwealth supported student at the University of Adelaide.
This scholarship is available to a student who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Selection of the successful applicant will be made according to academic merit and financial need.
Academic merit will be determined according to applicants’ cumulative Grade Point Average [GPA] for the preceding years.
Students in receipt of other major University of Adelaide scholarships may apply for this scholarship.
The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered; acceptance of the Scholarship offer cannot be deferred. If a student declines the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship will be offered to the next eligible student.
