The Hartley Scholarship was established in 1896 in memory of the late John Anderson Hartley to support a commencing student in the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) program at the University of Adelaide. 

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • Be commencing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) with the highest overall ATAR
  • Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
  • Be enrolled on a full time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:

  • Academic merit (ATAR)

Important Information:

  • There is no application process for this scholarship, it will be directly awarded to a commencing student with the highest overall ATAR
  • If there are two or more students of equal merit, the scholarship will be divided equally amongst them
  • You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible
  • The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
