The Angela Lakin Scholarship has been established by the friends of the late Angela Lakin to support one student of the Elder Conservatorium of Music who has a physical disability. Although blind from birth, Angela Lakin had, amongst other musical achievements, graduated with honours in music in 1965.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:

  • Be undertaking the Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music (Advanced) in a full time or part time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place, or
  • Be a student of the Centre for Young Musicians in the Open Music Academy of the Elder Conservatorium of Music
  • Have a physical disability (if an undergraduate student of the Elder Conservatorium of Music, be registered with the University's Disability Service)
  • Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
  • Demonstrate you are in financial need*

* Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.

* Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need.

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:

  • Financial need
  • Musical merit
  • Answers to questions on the application form

Important Information:

  • You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
  • The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
  • Students receiving other University of Adelaide Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship
