The Commonwealth Government offers a significant number of scholarships each year for Indigenous students studying at the University of Adelaide through Commonwealth income support scholarships. The scholarships are to assist Indigenous students from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those from rural and regional areas, with the costs associated with higher education.
Priority is given to students undertaking study on a full time basis.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Please note, students must not concurrently hold an Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship with a Student Start Up Loan from Centrelink. Students must not have already accepted a Student Start Up Loan from Centrelink, or if they have already accepted a Student Start Up Loan from Centrelink they must notify Centrelink that they wish to rescind the acceptance and repay any funds from the Student Start Up Loan.
