The Commonwealth Government offers a significant number of scholarships each year for Indigenous students studying at the University of Adelaide through Commonwealth income support scholarships. The scholarships are to assist Indigenous students from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those from rural and regional areas, with the costs associated with higher education.
This scholarship has been established to assist students who have relocated to study at the University of Adelaide. Priority is given to students who have relocated from a rural, regional or remote area and undertaking study on a full time basis.. Evidence of relocation is required in order to be considered eligible for the scholarship.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
Please note, scholarship recipients must not concurrently hold an Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship with a Relocation Scholarship or a Residential Costs Option from Centrelink. Students must not have already accepted a Relocation Scholarship or a Residential Costs Option from Centrelink, or if they have already accepted a Relocation Scholarship or Residential Costs Option from Centrelink they must notify Centrelink that they wish to rescind the acceptance and repay any funds paid from the Relocation Scholarship or a Residential Costs Option.
