The University of Adelaide pioneer Dr Augustus Short believed that tertiary education should be accessible to all students of high academic merit, regardless of birth or wealth.
Thanks to the generous support of donors, the Augustus Short Scholarships are available to students of high academic merit who come from rural or remote areas, challenging financial circumstances or another disadvantage.
Up to ten scholarships will be awarded to students commencing undergraduate programs in 2022.
To be eligible for the Augustus Short Scholarships, applicants must:
- gain admission to an undergraduate Bachelor's level course of study as a Commonwealth Supported student at the University of Adelaide commencing in 2022; and
- enrol on a full time basis (unless there are special circumstances preventing this, such as disability); and
- be Australian citizens, Australian Permanent residents, New Zealand citizens, or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa; and
- be able to demonstrate financial need
Eligible students will be ranked for selection based on academic merit and financial need. Academic merit for commencing students will be determined according to ATAR or equivalent scores.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payments, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits or other details of their financial circumstances.
