The Adelaide Sarawak Alumni Scholarship was established in July 2001 as a result of a donation by the Chief Minister of Sarawak Y.A.B. Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Haji Abdul Taib bin Mahmud via the University of Adelaide Alumni Association.
The Scholarship supports two students per annum who are enrolled in an undergraduate program of study at the University of Adelaide. To be eligible for consideration an applicant must be a Malaysian citizen who is currently enrolled as a full time undergraduate student in their second or subsequent year of study at the University of Adelaide. Applicants must have completed at least one year of study at the University of Adelaide.
The successful applicants will display outstanding academic ability as well as demonstrated commitment to community service. Academic merit will be assessed based on applicant’s cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) for the preceding year. Applicants must supply documentary evidence of their community involvement.
The Scholarship will provide an annual amount payable in two instalments direct to the student following confirmation of enrolment at the census dates for a maximum of one year. The funds are to be used to assist the student with tuition and other study expenses, travel or living expenses for one year of the student’s undergraduate program, subject to satisfactory academic progress and the submission of a brief report to the University Engagement Branch outlining the impact of the scholarship on their studies/university experience.
Students in receipt of other University of Adelaide administered scholarships may apply for this Scholarship. Recipients from previous years may not re-apply in subsequent years.
