Abour Supashock

Founded in 2005, Supashock is an Australian advanced technology business, specialising in engineering design, validation, testing and manufacture of products for Defence, autonomous, mining and automotive markets. The core of Supashock’s success has been its innovative approach to motion technology, developing revolutionary yet simple designs to increase efficiency and performance, enhance reliability, quality, durability and reduce costs.

Internship Project Overview:

This internship opportunity will involve joining Supashock’s Engineering team to design, test and develop products for Supashock’s advanced defence products. Students will become integral to the engineering team, contributing directly to deliverable products.

During the internship, you will undergo extensive mentoring in product development exposing you to design, product testing and manufacturing processes.  You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience while working on Supashock’s active suspension system for military vehicles.

You will be supported through an internship scholarship at a rate of $1,200 per week. This internship scholarship has been made possible through a co-funded arrangement between Defence Trailblazer and Supashock.

Research and development activities may include contributing to and learning about:

  • Product design using CAD and or FEA processes
  • Mathematical modelling of Supashock’s systems
  • Performing component testing in accredited test facilities
  • Manufacturing, and/or building prototype components for validation activities
  • Trouble shooting and solving complex problems to improve prototype systems
  • Creating innovative design solutions to improve products and systems.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Currently enrolled University of Adelaide PhD students undertaking research in the fields of software, mechatronic or mechanical engineering
  • Australian citizens able to receive security clearance

Additional Information:

The internship is anticipated to commence in February 2025 and will be offered on a part-time basis (2-3 days/week) for a minimum of 60 business days.

The student will be appropriately supervised by a qualified staff member.

At the conclusion of the internship, full-time employment opportunities may be available for suitable candidates interested in future employment with Supashock.

This internship may involve international travel with Supashock staff to support product development and testing activities. Any related travel and accommodation costs will be borne by Supashock.
