The scholarship recognises the contribution to ornamental horticulture of Mr Noel Lothian, former Director of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, and is to be awarded in his particular area of interest, that of development of Australian native plants for ornamental horticulture.

Eligibility:

To hold the award, applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, Permanent Humanitarian visa holder, or international student; and
  • be enrolling full-time in an HDR program in the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology in 2025, studying in the area of native plant horticulture or biology and ecology of native plants.

Benefits:

The stipend is valued $34,210/pa (2024 rate, indexed annually) and is payable for up to 2 years (MPhil) or up to 3.5 years (PhD).
