This Centre for Augmented Reasoning PhD scholarship is for females only to increase the opportunity for females in this research discipline.

The scholarship is funded by the Department of Education to support a full-time PhD student who is commencing research in machine learning with a focus on augmented reasoning.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr Zhibin Liao, in the project:  A universal and multi-modal medical data representation model

Project Title:

A universal and multi-modal medical data representation model

Description:

Representation models are pre-trained machine learning models which can be finetuned toward a diverse range of tasks. This project aims to develop a representation model for embedding multi-modal medical data such as medical imaging, Electronic Health Records (EHR). Instead of trying to solve a specific computer-aided diagnostic problem, this project will embrace the millions of data records from the public domain and from the private medical database. This model will make fundamental changes in the development of the many downstream medical tasks, such as detecting early signs of cancers from multi-modal data.
