This PhD project aims to leverage continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology to develop personalized nutrition and meal timing strategies for people living with type 2 diabetes. By continuously tracking blood glucose responses to meals and lifestyle factors, the project will identify individual patterns and predictors of glucose variability. Using this detailed data, tailored dietary recommendations will be generated to optimize glycemic control and reduce risk of complications. The research will integrate both observational analyses of CGM data and a subsequent clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of these personalized nutrition strategies in real-world settings. Outcomes will include improved postprandial glucose control, enhanced dietary adherence, and practical insights into individualized diabetes management. This work has the potential to advance precision nutrition approaches and inform clinical guidelines for optimizing blood glucose management in type 2 diabetes.

The University of Adelaide Scholarship is funded by Adelaide University to support a full-time PhD student who is commencing research in The Adelaide Medical School, on the topic “ You are when you eat: utilising continuous glucose monitoring to individualise meal timing”
