Dr Neville Derrington Hicks was a member of the academic staff at the University of Adelaide from 1976-2005 in the area of Public Health. In line with Dr Hicks’s wishes, the Neville Derrington Hicks PhD Scholarship in Public Health Policy was established with funds donated by Dr Hicks and initiated with the kind assistance of Dr Hicks’s daughter, Alison Greenslade, and his partner, Pamela Ball.
Eligibility:
To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must:
- be undertaking their second or subsequent year of a PhD by the first semester census date (usually 31 March) and have at least six months of candidature remaining prior to thesis submission;
- be an enrolled PhD student of the School of Public Health;
- be undertaking a research project at the University of Adelaide related to Policy in Public Health
Stipend:
The Scholarship shall be offered as a once-off scholarship of $5,000, payable in one instalment direct to the student. Payment of the Scholarship will be subject to confirmation of the completed Major Review. It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.
