About the Scholarship

Scholarship support will be provided to successful applicants looking to attain a research-based postgraduate degree (Doctor of Philosophy or Master’s Degree by Research).

The scholarship supports outstanding graduates early in their careers so they can be trained to conduct cardiovascular health and medical research that is internationally competitive.

The research may lead to translation into practice. If so, the postgraduate proposals should clearly cite the evidence that is to be implemented from guidelines and/or published systematic reviews.

Demonstration of translation and implementation methodologies and stakeholder and/or consumer engagement and co-design are also strongly encouraged in the Postgraduate Scholarship proposal.

Up to 3 years of support for PhD scholarship (up to 2 years of support for Master’s Degree scholarship).

Year 1 - $40,000
Year 2 - $40,700
Year 3 - $41,400

How to Apply

1. Visit the Heart Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship to review the scholarship details. Download the following documents via the website:

• Research Program Funding Guidelines
• Research Plan template (you are required to upload this to your application in the Grants Management Portal.

2. Apply via the Heart Foundation's Researcher Portal (New applicants will need to register for an account before proceeding).  

3. Advise the Adelaide Graduate Research School after your application is submitted, so it can be reviewed, endorsed and submitted to the Heart Foundation. Please email the AGRS via research.scholarships@adelaide.edu.au.

Application deadlines

• Monday 29 April 2024 – Applications open

• INTERNAL DEADLINE - Friday 7 June 2024, 5.00pm – University review deadline
  All applications must be completed and submitted by this deadline to allow for completion of University endorsement. Any applications submitted between 7 June 2024 and 14 June 2024 will be endorsed without review by AGRS.

• EXTERNAL DEADLINE - Friday 14 June 2024, 5.00pm AEST – Applications close
  All applications must be submitted to the Heart Foundation by this date. No late submissions can be accepted.

• Approx. October 2024– Successful applicants notified.
