Background

In 1993, Ronnie Sai Tat Wong bequeathed funds to the University for the purpose of establishing a scholarship for postgraduate students undertaking research with an impact on the treatment of cancer to memorialise the deceased’s parents, Dr Chun Chung Wong and Madam So Sau Lam.

 

Eligibility

To be eligible to hold the award, a candidate must:

  • be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, Permanent Humanitarian visa holder, or international student;
  • be enrolled in their second or third year of candidature in a full-time Higher Degree by Research program of study in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide (as at 1 January 2024);
  • be undertaking a research project in the field of cancer research; and
  • be a recipient of a major scholarship.

 

Benefits

The scholarship provides a stipend valued at $9,000 for 12 months, commencing from 1 January 2024. No extensions are permitted.

 

Selection of Candidates

The scholarship will be awarded to applicants through a competitive selection process, based on academic merit, research potential and relevance of academic research to the treatment of cancer.

Eligible students should complete and submit an Expression of Interest to research.scholarships@adelaide.edu.au by Sunday 9 September 2024. Late applications will not be considered.
