Applicants must:

  • Be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide.
  • Be supervised by a senior researcher in a NHMRC registered research institution.
  • Have not already completed a PhD.
  • Have applied for a PhD program at their chosen institution. If successful for Asthma Australia's PhD scholarship, funding will be made available after the application for admission has been accepted and the candidate enrolled.
  • Applicants must be undertaking a PhD in the area of childhood/young people and asthma.
  • Applicants must begin their PhD by end of March 2022.



The scholarship will be for 3 years and has a stipend of $45,000 per annum.

It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.  Details of any terms and/or benefits can be found in the attached Conditions of Award/Rules.



This scholarship is externally funded by Asthma Australia, and all enquiries should be directed to their email address.

This scholarship is currently open for application. There is an internal submission date of 4 July 2021 at 11.59pm AEST as the Adelaide Graduate Centre will need to verify and sign applications before submitting to Asthma Australia. Applications should be submitted to the University no later than 4 July 2021 at 11:59pm AEST and should be sent to with the name of scholarship in the subject heading. Scholarships will be checked, signed and returned to applicants in order to send to Asthma Australia.


After the applications have been signed by the AGC, application will be returned to applicants, and directed to send applications to Late or incomplete applications will not be submitted.
