About the scholarship
The Australian Solar Thermal Research Institute (ASTRI) heliostat scholarship Is funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to support a full time PhD who is undertaking research in fluid mechanics and aerodynamics.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia/international students/onshore international students who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD/Master by Research degree at the University of Adelaide.
Eligible candidates must:
- Have completed a relevant Bachelor degree with First Class Honours, or a Masters degree that contains a significant (and relevant) research component with equivalent academic performance. Students who hold a degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering will be considered favourably.
- Be interested in experimental and computational fluid dynamics, flat plate aerodynamics for heliostat wind load analysis and boundary layer turbulence characterisation in wind tunnel and field experiments.
Stipend: The value of this supplementary scholarship scholarship will $10,000 per annum and is conditional on a student successfully securing a Research Training Program Scholarship (RTPS), valued at $28,597 per annum. It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval. Details of any terms and/or benefits can be found in the Conditions of Award/Rules.
