This University of Adelaide Research Scholarships is offered to support a full-time PhD student who is commencing doctoral research in Industry 5.0-enabled smart logistics and supply chain management. The successful student must commence studies in Adelaide as soon as possible and no later than 31 December 2024.

The PhD project explores the nexus of Industry 5.0 in the logistics and supply chain management domain by addressing one or more topics. AI-driven supply chain optimization, Digital Twin applications in multi-tier Supply Chain, Dynamic Supply Chain Network Modeling, Supply Chain resilience and Risk management, End-to-End supply chain visibility, traceability and Transparency, cybersecurity in smart supply chains, Human-Machine Interaction and Collaboration in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Sustainable Supply Chain Optimization, Sustainability and circular economy.

 

Eligibility:

Applicants must be eligible to enroll as candidates for a PhD at the University of Adelaide.  The potential candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • The successful candidate should hold a bachelor's and master's degree related to one of the following areas: Industrial Engineering / Manufacturing Engineering with relevance to Operations and Supply Chain Management.
  • Candidates with a bachelor's and master's degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Technology will also be considered, but it will further be required that they also have a strong interest in operations and supply chain management background.
  • Knowledge of optimization solvers and Proficiency in machine learning algorithms and their practical implementation in Python would enhance the qualifications.

 

Stipend: The scholarship will be for 3.5 years and has a stipend of $34,210 (2024 rate, indexed annually) per annum.  It is likely to be tax-exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.
