The Muriel Faulkner Simms Research Scholarship in Therapeutics provides support for HDR students undertaking postgraduate research in the branch of medicine known as therapeutics.

Eligibility:

To hold the award, applicants must:

• be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or international student;
• be enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research program at the University in 2024, undertaking postgraduate research in the branch of medicine known as therapeutics*.

*For the purpose of this application, therapeutics is a subset of medical studies and is defined as the study of the principles and procedures used in preventing and treating illness, disease and injury in humans, including alleviating symptoms. Examples are the use of drugs, devices and nutritional interventions. Therapeutics excludes the health sciences disciplines of nursing, pharmacy, dental studies, optical science, public health, radiography, rehabilitation therapies, allied health and psychology.

Please also note - to hold a supplementary scholarship, a student must already be in receipt of a major scholarship equivalent to the University of Adelaide Research Scholarship.

Value and Tenure:

If awarded as a Major scholarship, the award will be valued $45,000 per annum.

If awarded as a Supplementary scholarship, the award will be valued $10,000 per annum.

The scholarship tenable for up to 2 years (Masters) or up to 3.5 years (PhD). Please note, if awarded to a currently enrolled candidate duration will be reduced by prior enrolment.
