In 2021, Eric Robert Fuss bequeathed to the University funds to establish a scholarship.  Eric Fuss was an alumnus of the University of Adelaide, graduating with a BA in 1967. As an English teacher who lived in Burra, he was greatly admired as a quiet achiever and made a huge contribution to Burra’s written history.  Over many years he generously shared his knowledge about the town and district’s history with researchers and was the author of many publications.

Eligibility: Applicants must be domestic students commencing a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Adelaide. One scholarship is available to a student undertaking research in Geography. Selection will be based on academic merit and research potential. New scholarships shall be awarded subject to available funding. The successful recipient must hold a major scholarship awarded in a competitive scholarship round at the University of Adelaide (Research Training Program Scholarship or University of Adelaide Research Scholarship (RTPS or UARS).

Stipend: The scholarship will be for 3.5 years (no extension provisions) and is valued at $20,000. It is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.
