The Walter and Dorothy Duncan Trust provides up to ten grants of $1000 to higher degree by research candidates from the University of Adelaide to support interstate and overseas travel to present at conferences.

Applicants should be enrolled in a PhD or Masters by Research at The University of Adelaide, be presenting at a conference (or symposium/workshop) interstate or overseas, and require financial assistance in order to participate. Applicants who wish to attend a conference but are not presenting their own work will not be considered.

In order to apply students should:

• Complete the application form available from Student Care (Level 8, Hughes Building).
• Collect supporting documentation including:
  • Evidence of financial need
  • Statement of support from Principal Supervisor (should speak to the student’s progress, the benefit to the student, and any financial support available from the relevant department or school)
  • Details of the conference, abstract submitted, evidence of acceptance
  • Budget for the proposed travel
  • Outline other sources of funding and status of any applications (through the University, the conference organisers, etc.)
• Make an appointment to discuss the application with an Education Welfare Officer (EWO) through the Student Care office (email studentcare@adelaide.edu.au or call 8313 5430).
• Take the application form and supporting documents to the meeting with the EWO.

International students will need to demonstrate severe financial hardship, with supporting documentation from International Student Support, to be eligible to apply.
