The Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) Research Scholarship has been established to support exceptional students engage in advanced research in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must:
- Be enrolled in one of the below listed programs and required courses:

Masters of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
COMP SCI 7205A - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research Project A in Trimester 1 or 2, 2025
AND
COMP SCI 7205B - Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Research Project B in Trimester 2 or 3, 2025 -
Master of Data Science
MATHS 7097A - Data Science Research Project Part A in Trimester 1 or 2, 2025
AND
MATHS 7097B - Data Science Research Project Part B in Trimester 2 or 3, 2025 -
Master of Computer Science - semester 1, 2025 enrolment in:
COMP SCI 7100A - Research Project Master Computer Science Part A -
Masters of Mathematical Sciences - semester 1, 2025 enrolment in:

- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia, New Zealand Citizen, holder of a permanent humanitarian visa or international student (holding a valid study visa)
- Be enrolled on a full time basis
Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Demonstrated academic excellence and strong potential for significant research contributions
- Advanced capabilities in programming languages, familiarity with libraries and frameworks, deep learning and neural networks, and common statistical concepts.
- Answers to questions on the application form
- Performance at an interview
Important Information:
- You must meet all of the above listed criteria to be eligible to apply
- International students and their proposed research project must be endorsed by the Office of the Chief Security Office. This task will be undertaken by the Australian Institute for Machine Learning for shortlisted applicants only.
- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other University of Adelaide Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship
