Eric Fuss was an alumnus of the University of Adelaide, graduating with a BA in 1967. As an English teacher who lived in Burra, he was greatly admired as a quiet achiever and made a huge contribution to Burra’s written history.  Over many years he generously shared his knowledge about the town and district’s history with researchers and was the author of many publications.

The Eric Fuss Honours Scholarship in Geography has been established to support one student commencing an Honours degree in Geography at the University of Adelaide. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to a student to assist in meeting educational and living costs for one year.

Applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents of Australia or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa undertaking study as a Commonwealth supported student and must remain enrolled on a full time basis in the approved program for which the Scholarship was approved.

Selection of the successful candidates will be made according to financial need and answers to questions on the application form.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need and be able to provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.

The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered: acceptance of the Scholarship cannot be deferred. If a student declines the Scholarship offer, the Scholarship will be offered to the next eligible student.

Students in receipt of other University of Adelaide Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship.
